Four Seasons Inn / Daffodil Cottage Fire
At 8:27 P.M. on July 17, 2006, fire engines from ESFD were dispatched to a reported fire at the rear of the All Seasons Inn on Spring St. First arriving firefighters found a fire rapidly climbing the back three stories of the All Seasons Inn. Assistant Chief Bob Pettus established command and ordered a five inch supply line to be laid from Spring and Howell.
The fire extended to the neighboring Daffodil Cottage on the north side of the All Seasons Inn. Due to the magnitude of the fire ESFD called for mutual aid. Firefighters had to be constantly rotated out of the fire scene due to the high temperature of the July evening. Eleven fire departments assisted ESFD including Holiday Island, Berryville, Green Forest, Grassy Knob, Inspiration Point, South Carroll County, Smyrna, Round Mountain, Huntsville, and Forum-Alabam. A total of 63 firefighters were used to combat the blaze. A Green Forest engine stood by in Eureka Springs to cover additional calls.
The fire rekindled almost immediately and kept firefighters hopping for almost 24 hours.
The cause of the fire was revealed to be a pile of cleaning rags stored at the rear of the All Seasons Inn.
